SERIES HISTORY

The DGPT EuroTour (formerly called “DGPT Europe”) was established in 2024 to unify and expand professional disc golf competition across Europe. Officially launched after a merger between the European Pro Tour (EPT) and the DGPT, the EuroTour is built on a shared vision to elevate the sport across the continent. By combining resources, expertise, and media capabilities, the EuroTour aims to deliver a premier disc golf experience for players, fans, and partners alike.

The EuroTour is operated by a leadership team with deep ties to the European disc golf community. Juha Kytö, former CEO of the EPT, now serves as Media Director, while Mikko Wikman, former EPT Tour Director, leads operations as Operations Manager. Leiv Aspén, known for his work on the Krokhol Open, has also joined the operations team, strengthening the effort to expand the Tour’s footprint across Europe.

An important part of the DGPT EuroTour’s foundation is its collaboration with PDGA Europe. To streamline support for professional events, PDGA Europe paused its standalone event series (called the PDGA EuroTour) in 2024, aligning its resources behind the DGPT. On the media side, EPT’s Disc Golf Stream was integrated with the Disc Golf Network (DGN), allowing subscribers across Europe to access a growing library of live and on-demand disc golf content.

Looking Ahead to the 2026 Season

After two years of competition in Europe, which saw the use of both Silver Series and Q-Series event designations,  the Disc Golf Pro Tour has opted to award a simplified EuroTour designation to a group of PDGA A-Tier events, which will serve as the continuation of a full European schedule designed for the regional player and fan community beyond the Elite Series Schedule.

With the addition of four tournaments under this EuroTour classification, the full and total European competition calendar now includes eight tournaments across five countries.

The EuroTour is intended to be a subsidiary competition circuit designed for European pros who aren’t playing on the full Elite Series schedule or traveling to the States for a significant period of time each year. While the naming and branding conventions have evolved since the Tour expanded into Europe, the EuroTour event designation recognizes and reflects the Tour’s primary goal of supporting the development of the European disc golf scene for both players and the fans they inspire.”  – Jeff Spring, DGPT CEO

“From the beginning, our goal has been to build a complete, meaningful Tour schedule for the European community. With the addition of four new EuroTour events to the 2026 schedule, this year will feature eight total events across five countries, all connected through a singular European Points Standings. We’re proud to offer a full season’s worth of competition that goes beyond the Elite Series and Major schedule. The overall season is built for European players, and also provides a full month of events where the full touring field – from the U.S. and Europe – will compete together at three DGPT Elite Series tournaments and the European Open.” – Mikko Wikman, EuroTour Operations Manager

EUROTOUR STANDINGS

As in past years, the Disc Golf Pro Tour will continue to maintain a separate European points standings, which is used to measure success on the European circuit and award Tour Card access to European players.

The Tour’s European points race will now be referred to as the DGPT EuroTour Standings and will use a similar points weighting system to Powerball® DGPT World Standings, with adjustments in weighting for each event class that reflect the total number of European tournaments this season. The EuroTour standings will include points from the four newly announced EuroTour events, plus the previously announced three DGPT Elite Series and PDGA Pro Major, all taking place in Europe this summer. In total, the European competition slate now features eight tournaments across Estonia, Sweden, Finland, Poland, and the Czech Republic.

Players at all European events will receive points and be listed on the EuroTour Standings. However, players will only be eligible for the benefits of finishing well in the standings (such as Tour Card access and any other benefits) if they play at least one of the EuroTour A-Tier events

AWARDING TOUR CARDS

The DGPT will award tour cards to European competitors based on the EuroTour Standings. Players can earn one of two different kinds of Tour Cards for the 2027 season based on 2026 performance.

  • Full Tour Card (top 3 FPO, top 6 MPO) → Grants players access to all DGPT events in the U.S. and Europe for the next year (Tour Pass), plus additional benefits included in the Tour Card program.
  • European Tour Card (top 12 FPO, top 24 MPO)→ Grants players access to all DGPT and DGPT EuroTour events in Europe for the next year (European Tour Pass), plus the option to register for up to three (3) additional U.S. Elite Series events, and additional benefits included in the European Tour Card program.

WATCHING THE EUROTOUR

On April 27, the DGPT released full details of the 2026 EuroTour media plan, which will include full live coverage of the MPO and FPO divisions at the European Open, Swedish Open, and Ale Open. These events will also receive post-production coverage from JomezPro for both the FPO and MPO divisions. At the Heinola Open, the MPO division will receive live coverage from the Disc Golf Network and post-production coverage from JomezPro. The FPO division will not receive live coverage (1), but will receive post-production coverage from MDG Media.

The Tour will collaborate closely with MDG Media to cover the entirety of the European competition schedule. MDG Media will serve on the DGN live broadcast team this summer, assist with JomezPro coverage, and release dedicated post-produced coverage of the FPO and MPO lead cards at the four remaining EuroTour events, beginning at the Pärnu Open.

(1) At the Heinola Open, the Disc Golf Network will only broadcast live coverage of the MPO division, as a majority of the international FPO field travels back to the United States for the U.S. Women’s Disc Golf Championship. This coverage decision is in line with the Tour’s previous announcement that it would not award DGPT Powerball World Standings points to the FPO division at the Heinola Open – a decision reached in coordination with the DGPT Player Council. Points for the separate EuroTour points standings will be awarded for both divisions (MPO & FPO).
